I like the theory put forth by someone recently about the story being loosely drawn from the myth of Enki and Enkil. Makes total sense to me and then theres this garden of Eden similarity where the island is the garden.
There were two children too that we need some answers about whose origin I find curious. One is Aaron (born on the island) and a boy and Sun's kid (i forget the name) who survived the whole all babies die rule and is a girl. Both left behind when they returned to the island.
Adam and Eve anyone?
Still trying to come up with a way the writers might use these two unique characters but the fact that they are unrelated boy and girl is interesting to me.
These stories always seem to end the same where the eternal battle of the gods continues somehow even if one gets a leg up for a while. It would be refreshing to see a writer get all arrogant and break the historically unbreakable cycle and let either Enki or Enkil win.
