There is something going on with the knives shown in the various episodes. Perhaps they have some significance, perhaps not. Let's try to figure it out.
Where have we seen the knives? I'll start with a few...
Locke brings a suitcase of knives to the island
Jacob cleans the fish with a knife, perhaps the same knife Illana pulls out of the cabin wall
Locke teaches Walt to throw knives
Locke kills hot girl (forgot name) by throwing knife in her back
Ben supposedly kills Jacob with a knife

Locke (as a child) also picked the knife presented to him by Richard. I am thinking there is some significance to that part anyway.

No doubt, but the question remains.... Is there a connection between the Knives, Locke, and Jacob? Is Jacob's knife one of Locke's?

I only saw the finale once and it was online (so it wasn't terribly clear) but it looked like Un-Locke handed Ben the knife that little boy Locke picked out from Richard's table.
Compared to the other knives that Locke had in his case in the Pilot episode it was very ordinary with a plan wooden grip and a old looking blade. I guess I could look back and see if its the same one that Jacob was using to clean the fish but I'm a tad bit lazy at the moment.
TL;DR
Child Locke picked out the knife Fake Locke would use to kill Jacob in the future.

maybe ben had to kill jacob with his own knife, or with a knife that's "special" and "chosen." IDK. but, yeah, knives seem to make an special appearance.

What episode was child Locke and Richard together in? I know I saw it but would like to see it again.
