What Happened to the Numbers?

For the first few seasons the numbers were brought up and a part of the show. It seems like the numbers are no longer important and were only acknowledged once when they were stamping them in. I wonder if they will be brought up again in the final season and if we will ever find out why the guy in the psyche ward(forgot his name) was repeating them over and over. My thought was that he was in the hatch and was pushing those numbers and had some type of interaction with the magnetic field or something and went crazy ut remembered the numbers. o whats up with the numbers? Are they not going to be aprt of the storyline anymore?

I know what the numbers were. That really wasnt my question. I am talking about how little the numbers are brought up in the last 2 seasons if at all in this season other than the numbers being mentioned at the construction of the Swan Station

The numbers fascinate me too! We still haven't seen Hurley call the numbers out yet, so that should be interesting, and we'll probably find out more then! I can't wait!

The guys name was Leonard, and we know how he got the numbers. He heard the numbers being broadcast, just like Rousseau's team did. We found this out when Hurley went to Australia to see Leonards old partner. The partner was dead, but his wife told Hurley where Leonard got the numbers.

Remember when we saw Rousseau's team come to the island, and you could hear the numbers on the radio. I know that it's up for debate, but I'm positive it was Hurley's voice saying the numbers.
I have a strong feeling that we'll still see Hurley at some time setting the numbers up to broadcast so that future Hurley still comes to the island.
But I can't answer why Dharma would let the broadcast of the numbers, and then Rousseaus' distress call play for so long. Maybe after some time Dharma had to surrender the radio tower to the Others, due to the whole boundaries thing.

Now that I understand more about the show I think the numbers are actually very important so I do hope they at least play the Hanso video explaining the Valenzetti equation in an actual episode somewhere. In the end the legacy this show leaves behind will be the actual episodes because future peeps will only watch the episodes and know about the show that way. The Valenzetti Equation is a little corny maybe but I see now how it is relevant to the theme of the show so I think they should find a way to work it in.
