I found this these links on a usenet forum (http://groups.google.com/group/alt.tv.lost/browse_thread/thread/e112be6baf811f3d) and thought it was interesting. Some frank comments from Damen Lindeloff. He talks about Libby and Eko, the numbers, and some of the business realities that shaped the show.

The huge download is here:

but if it doesn't work or you don't have the patience to sit through all of that there were some smaller youtube links:

Very cool Baxie! Thanks!!!!!! The videos were great! The way Damon said that the characters will all be resolved so firm and definitivly made me think that either it is a time loop or they all die or both! lol.

i just realized that you won't see it in the two youtube videos there but Lindelof said that the reason we haven't seen Libby's story is because they have been unable to book the actor to come back on the show.

He also said Eko was originally supposed to have a 4 season story arc but they had to write him out of the show because the actor was no longer willing or able to live in Hawaii. Eko was one of my favorite characters so I wish we could have seen his whole story. I wonder what it would have been.

He also addressed the accusation that they are just making things up as they go. He made pretty interesting comments about this because he admits that even parts where they had a plan they had to change direction mid course because of factors that were out of their control. He also said abc wanting them to stretch the show out was an issue.

Other stuff like, 'Cause we have to make the show for the hardcore fans who care about the Numbers but we also have to make it for my mom who just wants to see Sawyer take his f*cking shirt off' seems like an interesting admission. People seem to get so mad at me when I complain about stuff like this but he is basically admitting that they sometimes waste our time at the expense of stuff that is more relevant to the story in order to appease a segment of the audience, most likely for ratings and other business reasons.

Also interesting was that they had to stop the ARG stuff when they realized it was too expensive and they were only catering to existing fans and not bringing in new ones. And he said some big shot got fired when the pilot episodes were too expensive. Interesting...

yeah thanks baxter for posting

sure, np...

I think Lindelof said he watches In Treatment? I think he said that but anyway I just want an excuse to talk about the show In Treatment. I spent most of my holiday watching that show on the 'HBO On Demand' channel. It's really good and the Oliver stories have me thinking a lot now. Anyone else watch it?

anyway...

Jeez, Damon looks exactly like David Cross. It threw me off at first, probably because the title "comics on comics" had me thinking comedians.

Sweet videos though. That joke about the Dharma initiative going back in time to stop Dharma and Greg was genius.
