thanks! the more i think about it, the more it makes sense. it would explain why smokie didn't want ben to kill john. if john were dead, smokie couldn't accomplish whatever it has up its ashy sleeves...and the first to know it would be ben

okay, here's the deal: locke is dead. dead is dead, as they say. he wont be back, not as he was before. once you accept this concept its easy to see that new locke is anti jacob and quite possibly the smoke monster.

the hint was when lapidus and sun were waiting in dharmaville for locke and before we saw him we heard smokey sound FX. another hint came when ben was unable to summon smokey with locke right there. the third clue was that locke disappeared when smokey appeared before ben. how many more clues do you need?

ps i think smokey/new locke has also been christian. have we seen new locke and christian together? or christian and smokey at the same time? or new locke and smokey at the same time?

This whole thread is a conjecture until we know:
1. What are Smokie's powers?
2. Who, or what Jacob and his nemisis are.
3 How some dead bodies are able to walk around and be seen, while others aren't. The fact that we see Alex seconds after Smokie leaves leads me to believe that Smokie is not actually possessing bodies, just assuming their form and shape temporarily

well ive been saying all along.(since the finale) that smokie=anti-jacob, and I thought it was rather obvious that Locke manifestation=smokie, im pretty much under the impression that while smokie manifestations have been shown affecting the enviorment they cant actually affect people, which is why Christian can turn on lights and hold picture frames but cannot physically affect people, hence the whole not being able to help locke up, which would also explain the need for Ben. Locke and Ben are the loophole, take one from the other and Jacob goes on breathing, smokie needed them both, one alive, one dead. The one who appeared to be resurrected would just be smokie playing both sides while maneuvering the other to fulfill his ultimate goal, to kill Jacob.

No he s not, his dead body was just a decoy thrown in our face to fool us, Lost has never been just plain 'ol black and white, never just about religion and never just about science, always more then that.
The body snatching theory is retarded and it doesnt make sense since Locke is in a Physical form, not a ghost, unlike Christian or Bens daughter.

I was thinking about this and it also goes along with what Smokey told Ben in the Temple. Telling him not to hurt him and to follow his every order..very convenient if new Locke is actually Smokey as well ;)

This has been mentioned before. I said on another thread that the guy in the black shirt in the begining of the finale was the smoke monster in human form and when Jacob said to JL that he found his loophole I said the same thing that JL was the guy in the back shirt essentially being the smoke monster.
