First of all i believe that the alt is the new "normal". In other words this all happened before in some way where Dark expanded and the island gets flipped so to speak and the balance always remains. which is what I think Jacob means when he say's there will always be another just as much as he means a candidate. This world we have thought was ours is now MIB's and the alt is the new normal.
So now as far as Daniel is concerned and all the other losties in the alt. The one thing they can not do is try to undo what was done. If they do then the balance will flip back and yes we get the old normal back, but everyone who has died will remain dead at best. And there will be no moving on to a higher existence so to speak ( and if you think that "passing" over to the alt isn't a little "after life" like then you are missing it. They can't resist the metaphor I guarantee it.) So will there be a race to see which side does the right thing? Also this would explain Eloise's desire for things stay calm.
This show has to end with simultaneous explanations of Science, Island Mythology/religion/philosphy. In other words just like when we saw jacob getting stabbed, we also created the alt. by blowing up an H-bomb in the face of Dark Matter. science and mythol. same event.
