Sorry but how does this apply to the Losties?
They arent going back in time to something they previously had known.
This is their present.
they didnt physically go back in time to 1977 where they are 30 yrs younger or to a past they already knew.
I think this is a huge issue I am having with this train of thought with this debate.
The Island is new to them in 1977 times and they havent been there before from what I am seeing.
I am seeing it as this is the only 1977 the island has been to and the only way it occured is how we saw it.
What else would explain, Alpert visiting Locke in 1956 or everything else we saw during the time-skips.
Darlton already said that the time-skips were not randon skips but were intentional for the Losties within the realm of the story.
So the statement made by the QP may very well be true but I do not think it pertains to the Losties.
Also from what I am reading is that the person going back in time really goes back in time not only on the time line but to the actual age they were in that time line.
The whole statement is about experiencing a different past.
Seems that they would physically have to be younger to that same age and then live out their lives that allows them to have a whole new past that will be made by it.
