I didn't like the ending when I first watched it either.
I was like well that was the obvious ending predicted after season 1 that was shot down by JJ Abrahms. Albeit ever so slightly modified in time almost to be able to have a justifible excuse for originally going public against that theory.
However, I rewatched the episode and I feel much better about the ending the second time.
So give yourself 24-72 hrs and then rewatch it. Once I rewatched it, I realized there is no better way to end the show then the way it ended. If they lived on, people would be chatting about spin-offs or additional season. If it were left vague, people would be complaining that they still never answered anything even for the characters. If everyone died on the island, then it would have decreased the meaning of the island or steered us aware from the characters again.
There still could be a spin-off. Hurley and Ben running the island!! Let's go, guys! Lets see what you did to make that island run better than Jacob did.
I'll still say the ending was okay, but how we got there was a little... awkward.
I'm actually okay with the ending. Especially as I'm having time to soak it all in. What I do have a problem with is how they executed the final island events surrounding Locke. I just felt it was too easy. The Man in Black in mortal form is the worst fighter ever. Literally. Everytime someone has thrown a punch at him (in mortal form) he's gotten his ass kicked. And Jack doesn't exactly have a winning record at putting up his dukes. Mortal Man in Black is like this guy...

I totally agree, at first when I saw where it was going I started freaking out because I still had SOO many questions but then realized, there is NO way they can all be answered and I be left satisfied. I LOVED the ending but was left with questions but re-watched it and really felt at peace with everything. I thought they wrapped it up beautifully and that in the end everything came full circle I STILL hope they come out with some answers to our questions though, pretty sure they said they would haha.

I found it very creative, in that they linked it to the FS with Kate and Desmond. That was very, very cool.
How did they link it to the FS with Kate and Desmond?

It's probably just as bad as any other ending at that point. They couldn't have turned around that trainwreck of a season regardless what they did. Maybe I will watch it again, but since I'm not a woman or a crybaby I think my opinion won't change, because I'm not affected by tear-jerker moments (and let's face it, the whole last quarter was nothing else).
