C.S. Lewis on the Island. Did you notice?

Charlotte Staples Lewis. Anyne see the resemblance to Clive Staples Lewis, author of The Chronicles of Narnia as well as numerous other works. Also, he studied at Oxford which is where Lewis and JRR Tolkien became best of friends. Just a neat coincidence on the name you think?

Dude, I totally noticed this. I guess I'm always looking for philosophers on Lost since they already have John Locke, Rousseau, and [Desmond] David Hume. There was bound to be another entry of a philosopher sometime. I was pretty impressed they had Charlotte studying at Oxford where C.S. Lewis taught which made the reference all the more obvious. Of course, I wouldn't make too much of it as if the characters are supposed to be direct application of the views of the philosopher. It's just in the tradition of their constant enjoyment of making reference to culture, pop culture, other movies, and so forth.

Awesome observation brock, and would have never gotten david hume. As an aside. On a lot of official and unofficial sites, Emelia Aerhart (forgive the sp) is always mentioned on the time lines. Is this old news and are we to think that it was she and her co-pilot now dubbed adam and eve found in the caves? Does anyone have a theory. Initially way back i thought it was to be Jack and Kate or rose and Bernard. Any thoughts?

I dunno know, Lost has some close parallels with the recurring themes of the Silent Planet trilogy / Chronicles of Narnia. a) Characters are taken from familiar to totally unfamiliar b) Someone wants to misuse/abuse the natural resources c) jacob = eldila? d) The "castaway" initially wants to go home. Once home, they want to return.
