Default Richard As Sea Captain

I think most things in Lost are connected. Just making Richard an immortal is kind of boring. I believe he was Captain or an officer of the Black Rock & has been there for 200 plus years. It might explain the funky clothes seen on the Others . What always bothers me is why there aren't any native island people around.

The way i see it is this. Think of the house of Representitives in our government. Then think of Richard. Its like Richard is representing the Island in the others camp. He is probably some messenger of Jacob or Smokie. Richard is probably one the first others. Maybe he isn't even human. Maybe he's smokie in human form. That way smokie can leave the island.

That's an excellent theory Doubting Thomas! I think Richard could also be the island's constant or vice versa.

One question that I have that I dont think has been answered is how does Richard know exactly where Locke will be when the flashes start? How does he know to go to the sea plane and he will find Locke there and tell him to bring the others back?

Well he seemed to be wearing the same clothes and had the same bag as in the season 3 episode "the brig" and for all we know he walked out there every night after Boone made the plane fall.
