because lost is in syndication and i have been re-watching older epi's, i am beginning to wonder if penny is full of it. its one thing to think that widmore knew desmond ended up on the island (although not sure how), but how did penny know/think/assume the same? remember after the swan blew, there was a scene wherein penny had a couple of guys some place cold (presumably the south pole or north pole) looking for the island. but why? and when charlie gets in radio contact with her in the lookin glass, why? whats she looking for the island for? plus when she talked to charlie she had no idea that des was there on the island? so, the north pole thing has nothing to do with the charlie thing. and when she talked to charlie she still knew nothing about des on the island. how does she even know about the island? widdy? does that mean she is in on it with him? why would he tell her? ok, so after the charlie convo she has reason to find des there. but before the charlie convo why is she looking for the island? or if not the island, what is she looking for? what am i missing? what if penny is in place to make des do what he does? also, her money presumably comes from widdy. if she hates him so much or if she has disowned him, why does she still get use of his boats and money and all that? am i totally off? thoughts?

She loves Desmond. She proably doesn't love her dad. She knew he went off course in his sailing race, and she knew about where, and she was searching for him. She's rich. She's smart. She may have some hidden knowledge like it seems everyone does, but I don't think she means anyone harm.
She's like Juliette, to me. Their personalities don't make them likely candidates for pivotal potentially explosive drama.

I agree with baxter (is that like in "Ted" from MTM?). Anyway I like Penny's character and think she is truly in love with Desmond. Sure, if I had millions I'd live on a boat and give birth there (not). Penny searched for Desmond for 3 years (so maybe some of that was Daddy's money) but that is devotion. I'm glad Ben didn't shoot her. I like the sweet, true love stories, like Rose & Bernard and Juliet & Sawyer (circa 1977). Penny is not full of it.

IDK, i like desmond still. i just think that all his eggs in penny's basket may not be wise. and i do think it would be explosive if she turned out to be a craphead and poor des spend his whole life being into her.

Because neither one seems to have any hint in their "presence" that could turn diabolical. They're ladies, IMHO.

Desmond is my favorite guy on the show. His love for Penny was astronomical and the high point of five seasons was (for me) when he contacted her on the phone. He tried to save Charlie, even when he knew Charlie was supposed to die. Penny's not going to let him down.
As far as love stories, I see Jin and Sun being on opposing sides when they reunite, and again being torn to shreds over what to do.
