Thats a interesting thought and if it wasnt for the whole Island aspect of the show than I would say yes, this is probably what is going on. But we do know that the Island is going to be the primary focus of the show and the whole purpose of them being brought to the Island involved their destinies.

I dont think that destiny was to go to the Island just so they dont have to go to the Island.

Not landing on the Island won't necessarily do away with the destiny stuff. The Bomb Squad might do the ol' mental time-travel deal to their alternates. (That's basically what happened to Desmond when he turned the fail-safe, I think.)

With the Island not forgotten, they'd just need some incentive to go back...again.

So its just a repeat of S5 then since that is what they were doing in S5 was going back to the Island.
