I think I know wht the monster is...

I noticed this the other day...probably not the first.

Anywho we know the monster isn't one monster, but three that can become one (Watch it in Left Behind) and it mentions the name cerberus (A three headed dog from Greek Mythology) on the map in the hatch. So it got me thinking... It's not the first time greek mythology has been mentioned (Like the Medusa Spider.)

Now listen to the whispers. They're lmost always three voices speaking at once, each with a different personality. Now look at their behaviour and what little we see of them. Watch the monster's first encounter with Eko: You can see flashes of his past in the smoke. Then later it kills him.

I think Cerberus is a codename because they act like the fates. The first sees the soul while spinning a thread (Sees the soul being the keyword) The second measures the thread, Judging the soul, And the third cuts the thread, acting as executioner.

Anyone else think something similar?

I knew it, the whole time. Well, almost. I knew those whispers wern't the others because they were always far away from the Lost crew. They only sent out a few guys to check up on the survivors. I find it hard to believe that Danny, Tom and Juliette were running around the island and whispering, just knowing that they could never be found or caught. I believe you have a good point there.

I think that the smoke is something like jacob's manifestation and/or eyes on the island. You hear the exact same whispering around the monsters as you do around Jacob's hut. The monster seems to be the one in charge of the island, even more so than the others, just like Jacob.

They said that the entity.."black smoke" can also change into other objects...hense ...the dead people that we are seeing...ben saw his mother....then saw, richard...as did jack when he was chasing the white rabbit....so if the black smoke is one with jacob then he is telling the smoke to show the way of certain people on the island..

i never thought of it like that.
we all knew it wasnt the others because sometimes they didnt com during the voices.
maybe like the others know about the "three-headed dog".
might be why they sometimes come around after the voices.
sounds bi-polarish to me.

remember?ok so if you remember the lack of the same brut force that it usually displays i mean cmon it was wack, but remember the fact that it was pulling Locke down the hole and Kate threw the dynamite into the hole and when it blew the smoke escaped through an exit not too far away but showed the size of that hole , why haven't they ever explored that hole or have any other such holes ever appeared i would think also they should kill the bear since they know where it lives

i am intrigued by the fact that the smoke has an audio visual aspect to it, this in line with the fact that it sounds mechanical in nature makes me think that danielle was right in a way when said there was no such thing as monsters and referred to it as their security system. maybe she's just crazy...
