Hi everyone! I'm running the fashion show for the
Alternate History Track at Dragon*Con this year, and this post is an open call for designers.
The show is an alternate history fashion show, and so the focus will be primarily steampunk. However, designers of other anachronistic fashions are welcome. For example, if you know someone who designs awesome retro inspired pin-up looks, please encourage them to apply.
The fashion show will be held in a large ballroom on Sunday afternoon. Unlike last year when the fashion show was part of the Steampunk Ball, this year, the event will stand on it's own. It should be a well-attended event, and it should be good publicity for everyone involved. I plan on having a website for the event so that prospective clients and customers can easily find out who is responsible for the amazing work they saw at the show. Designers, MUA's, hairstylist, models and photographers will all be linked.
If you participate in the show, you should be prepared to show at least three looks and no more than seven. However, exceptions can be made in either direction.
If you're an amazing accessory maker and would like to show your work but don't feel comfortable coming up with an entire look for a model, you are welcome to collaborate with a clothing designer. The MC will be sure to note the collaboration to the audience during the show. If you don't know someone to collaborate with, I'll be happy to put you in contact with other designers in the show.
If you're interested in having your work in the show but will not be able to attend the convention, sent-in work will be accepted.
If you're interested in applying to be a designer in the show, please send an email with your name, company name, a link to your website/etsy-shop and three to five images of your best work to
megan@meganmaude.com. I'll let you know within 3 days if your work is appropriate for this show.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me or to comment in this post.
