When Michael arrives at the dock at the Other's camp in S3 to see Walt after he was kidnapped, why do the others take a blood sample from Michael?
Good question!
Maybe it was to see if he was a descendant of the slaves on the Black Rock. Although they probably could have found that out with Walt's blood, which I am sure they took.
IDK, that is a really good question!
OOoooh, maybe to see if he is really Walt's father, wouldn't that be an interesting twist if Michael wasn't Walt's biological father? what am I saying, there are too many twists already, my bad! Never mind, LOL

Yea I like to know too. But they also took a sample of Jack and Kates blood and i think the ytook a sample of Sawyrer's as well. We saw Kate and jack pull off "band-aids" after getting kidnapped by the Others. I just dont recall if Sawyer did as well. most likely he did.
Who knows what they were checking for. Maybe they werent checking Michaels relationship to Walt's.
If they were able to find out Sawyer killed that guy in Australia and everythign else i nthe files I would imagine they would know Walts biological father and wouldnt need to test MD for that.
To me, blood tests would only give a clue about bloodlines, like perhaps the whole Shepard thing, but it is obvious with the naked eye that Walt and Michael were not of that line.
I was always confused as to why they were doing ANY of the crazy "experiments" and "tests" they were subjecting the Losties to at ALL. They weren't Dharma, and I assume they were making use of Dharma materials/supplies, including lab equip. Richard never needed those measures to find the next "special/chosen one" (with the exception of the objects on the table test for young Locke), and if you are a believer as I am that the Others are peaceable and not the bad guys, then why does it appear they did those weirdo things to them for the pure pleasure of tormenting them? As much as I have grown to love Ben, I review those first Others episodes and gasp!

The Others took blood from everyone they could, including out losties, if you recall. I always had a suspicioun that Bea Klugh was the mother of Susan Lloyd, Walt's mother, for some reason. I don't know if we'll ever find out the real reason though. We may just have to chaulk it up to just something they did.
Maybe they were checking for malaria or othre viruses/sickensses spread by bugs like mosquitos. JK
It could just be the usual testing/experiments they were doing on all those they came into contact with. It could just be they wre making sure they were protecting themselves form something possibly.
Who knows. I am guessing it will be one of those things not addressed ths final season
