Default Being "Claimed"

I think wat happened to Claire and Sayid is the same thing that happened the the French explorers when they came to the island. Danielle mentions that they all seemed "sick" before killing them all. So can we assume they were all taken over by smokie? if so how was Sayid taken over when smokie was still with the statue people at the time?

They did go through the tunnel that the French went through before.

But if Sayid is sick, then what does Jacob's touch mean? It didn't save Sayid's life, as far as we know anyway.

IF I may.

I go back to the scene with Jacob telling Hurley to bring Sayid to the Temple..

Yes I still think its wasnt Jacob.

Seems plausible somewhat doesnt it?

And are we sure these scenes are actually the same time frame?

Meaning maybe they are both in 2007 but they arnet showing us things in a linear frame of mind.

These things could be happening after we saw Locke walk off with Alprt flung over his shoulders even though it appears to be happening simultaneously

Not really.
1. Jacob would be the only one that knew about the guitar case and the fact that it had the wooden symbol inside when he told Hurley to take it with him.
2. The other losties can see MiB Players (such as Claire) and can see Flocke as well....so it doesn't fit with Jacob telling Hurley that only he could see him (as dead)

It makes more sense that Jacob was hoping that they could save Sayid...but if they couldn't, he knew they had the ability to test him and discover if he had the sickness. If he was just allowed to die next to the van, he surely would have been taken over and used as a tool to fool/and con the losties with no one knowledgeable of the takeover.

OK but if the jacob we saw off the island giving Hurley the guitar case is the same person that Hurley sees on the Island means he would know about the guitar andwhat was in it and get Sayid in the Temple to "infect" the others.

Also we know Smokey can read peoples minds and in the case that it was Jacob off the Island Smokey can still know that the guitar case was given and what was inside it and what Hurkey encountered off the Island just as it knew things about Ekos past when it was scanning him with the flashing light.

I still think its Smokey.

Thats my theory and so far nothing has made me think otherwise.

In fact tonights epi made me feel even stronger about it

Smokey can make people see him and not see him if he chooses.

We also saw the scene in the statue where after Locke gets shot he runs behind the column and just disappears without a trace and then shows up from the entrance way leading into the room as the smoke monster where they were looking for him after shooting at, wha tthey thought was aperson

Seems he has the ability to appear and disappear at will

Based on everything I am seeing, it does not make more sense that Jacob was talking to Hurley in these scenes.

Now that we know that Sayid is "infected" it makes me more convinced that Jacob is not who he claims to be.

The things he said and his behavior make me question it just like i questioned Locke's behavior after he seemingly "rose from the dead"

I was wondering the same thing. We know that Rousseau's team came into contact with Smokie and Claire dissapeared in the middle of the night so she could have too. But Sayid was shot by Roger, no Smokey involved, so I'm baffled as to why he's "sick" like Claire and Rousseau's team..

The people at the foot saw the signal rocket shot off in the temple right before Locke came out of the foot. Richard looked like he was going to poop down both legs.

TPTB say the sickness has to do with time travel. Not everything is smokey.

Hrm... that brings up interesting questions about when it was that Claire time traveled. Maybe they're all doing it now and then without really noticing much.

My feelings have always been that Claire experienced time travel from the force of the explosion of her house in New Otherton. I have been saying she is dead since that. Miles had the same look on his face when he was watching Claire as he did when he was looking at Sayid. Sumpin's up!
