OK but if the jacob we saw off the island giving Hurley the guitar case is the same person that Hurley sees on the Island means he would know about the guitar andwhat was in it and get Sayid in the Temple to "infect" the others.
Also we know Smokey can read peoples minds and in the case that it was Jacob off the Island Smokey can still know that the guitar case was given and what was inside it and what Hurkey encountered off the Island just as it knew things about Ekos past when it was scanning him with the flashing light.
I still think its Smokey.
Thats my theory and so far nothing has made me think otherwise.
In fact tonights epi made me feel even stronger about it

2. The other losties can see MiB Players (such as Claire) and can see Flocke as well....so it doesn't fit with Jacob telling Hurley that only he could see him (as dead)

Smokey can make people see him and not see him if he chooses.
We also saw the scene in the statue where after Locke gets shot he runs behind the column and just disappears without a trace and then shows up from the entrance way leading into the room as the smoke monster where they were looking for him after shooting at, wha tthey thought was aperson
Seems he has the ability to appear and disappear at will

It makes more sense that Jacob was hoping that they could save Sayid...but if they couldn't, he knew they had the ability to test him and discover if he had the sickness. If he was just allowed to die next to the van, he surely would have been taken over and used as a tool to fool/and con the losties with no one knowledgeable of the takeover.

Based on everything I am seeing, it does not make more sense that Jacob was talking to Hurley in these scenes.
Now that we know that Sayid is "infected" it makes me more convinced that Jacob is not who he claims to be.
The things he said and his behavior make me question it just like i questioned Locke's behavior after he seemingly "rose from the dead"
