815ers and the numbers

After I saw the new episode I was wondering if the numbers are just there because of the losties.

4 = Locke
8 = Hugo
15 = Sawyer
16 = Sayid
23 = Jack
42 = Jin & Sun

I know the numbers were there before them, but Jacob touched Sawyer when he was a little boy. Maybe......?!?!?!

Well, I really wish they explain the numbers better than just "oh. they were next to losties=candidates names" and "jacob had a thing for numbers".

The numbers really bother me for some reason.

I would love to know WHY THOSE NUMBERS? But I haven't seen a good theory yet.

Anyways, the numbers in the cave... the list from the cave... probably aren't even Jacob's. I don't think that cave is Jacob's at all. There have been a number of different lists and it's not inconceivable that MiB has his own and that 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42 all point back to him.
