Desmond's 1996 consciousness was more aware. He knew where he was and who he was with. He also did not show any signs of "synaptic breakdown" (No nose bleed). So what would have happened if he did not find a constant? A better question what happened to future Eloise. Did she make a run for it? No more mind trips for this rat.

he would have died like minkowski i'm pretty sure.....
I guess what I trying to say would minkowski's consciousness went to the past and he remained alive there. The past being a constant, as it were. All of this might be a paradox and contrary to what has been stated as fact on the show. But he was a minor character.
u got a point but i thought the writers said no paradoxes?? I will admit that we all keep thinking the paradox thing may exist....but didn't minkowski say"i can't get back" right before he pulled a linda blair...jj...lol

well if past oe is still alive wont he be able to make the right decisions to ensure that it doesnt happen again? thus him not going back in the past and that cancels it all out?
