If the Man in Black/Smokie was doing its little pretend to be someone else trick by taking form of Isabella then answer me this....

When Isabella (MIB/Smokie) is talking to Richard why do you here the smoke monster outside with its strange noises?

perhaps he doesnt have to physically take that persons form. perhaps he can project their image? maybe not literally but not sure how else to say it.

I don't think it's MiB. Btw, I really liked that nod the writers gave us with Hurley's MiB line.

I honestly do not believe that all those sitings of dead people were MiB. Even MiB saw a ghost a few episodes ago while he was talking to Richard in the jungle.

part of me did wonder in that scene if she was no more than the hallucinations of a exhausted, starving and dehydrated man.

but we saw smokie check richard out some and im sure he absorbed the memory of isabella then.

There is a disconnect here that we haven't quite been shown yet. Have you noticed that we've never seen FLocke or MIB ACTUALLY TURN INTO the smoke monster? There have been plenty of CGI effects, including the sea storm scene with the Black Rock and of course Smokey itself. However, we have not seen any transformation.

I think FLocke/MIB is lying about being the Smoke monster. It still isn't clear what Smokey truly is.

When Ricardo told Jacob that Isabella came to him, Jacob replied that it wasn't her so it was a similar manifestation like Alex, Yemi, (Locke?) and others...yes?

I too question the existance of Smokie and Isabella simultaneously...confusing, unless, as you say, they aren't the same.

Jacob's comment was intriguing and said as though he was quite familiar with the whole subject.

it may be that the transformation just looks a little to cheap to fit their tastes of what they would deem useable.
most of the effects on lost have not looked horrible, but perhaps doing a transformation of a man into a smoke like form, and it look decent or believable, is just not working out.
perhaps they are holding off on it for just one scene showing this take place.

it could also just be part of their leaving people in the dark to suspend the mystique of the situation for a long as possible.
or they feel that less is more, that they don't have to actually show it happen for people to realize that is the case. (something severely lacking in entertainment today)

And, as of late, they never come from the same side of the room.

Tunnel: Smoke exited left, Alex came in from the right.
In the foot: Locke was on the right, smokey entered from the left, and killed Bram.
Black Rock: smokey was upstairs, MiB was downstairs.

why do you think MIB was Isabella, Hurley said she told richard that he had to stop the MIB from leaving the island. Or was this just Hurley saying that on his own to get Richard to come back.
