Is Ben's Bag of tricks empty?

I've been wondering if Ben is now basically a used up ex- Man of Mystery, or does he know more about whats going on then he is letting on?

I have been hoping for a Kevin Spacey/Kaiser Soze/Usual Suspects ending where Ben suddenly steps from behind the curtain to be the supreme Island being...the man behind all of this. It looks like a lost cause now, as he does simply seem like just another character. But damn it would be cool.

I think Ben breaking down and apologising to Ilana pretty mush symbolised the fact that Ben no longer has control over anything.
I feel the only contribution left in the series for Ben is his inevitable showdown with Widmore.

I do think that his character has changed radically (and not in a good way) but I think the whole thing with Widmore is a huge deal because it mirrors Jacob and MIB and I want to know more!

I dont' think that ben has a plan right now, but Ben's best thinking throughout the show has been on the spot, while the pressure is on kind of stuff. I think that a plan will come to him in spite of his resignation to follow others at this point.

Personally i dont think there is anything left that he can plan, he no longer has the power on the island.

The whole source of hes power came from the fact that he had knowledge that neither the losties nor the viewer had, and was able to use that in order to manipulate certain individuals into getting what he wants.

However since the emergence of both MIB and Jacob, nobody on the island cares about Ben anymore, hence his emotional breakdown in front of Ilana.

I do believe that he will challenge Widmore at some point, and prevent him from achieving whatever it is that he wants to achieve. but he will not be a major player in the 'game'. nor will he have any say in the eventual outcome of the series

but thats just my opinion
