Default A Candidate can only be killed by water (drowning)

Hi All,

I was thinking about last nights episode and how Flocke gave Jack the backpack with the bomb in it. There are too many "what ifs" to answer if we are to believe that Flocke thought that the bomb itself would kill the people in the sub. First of all how could Flocke have known that kate would get shot and that Jack wouldnt be able to find a first aid kit and then ask Hurley to get a shirt out of the pack only to find a bomb? and what if they had never found the bomb? We know that candidates can't be killed. I think Flockes plan was for the bomb to blow up and sink the sub so that they would all drown. Sun and Jin drowned, Charlie drowned, Claire almost drowned. Charlie drove Desmond into the harbor in FS. The island is sunk at the beginning of the season and...... Sayid drowned albeit he came back to life but infected. Isn't there something about smokey and water in heiroglyphics somewhere. The only exception I can think of is that Ben hung Locke. Which in itself is a form of suffocation like drowning. I think there is something to this what do you think?

water water everywhere

i was sort of thinking along the same lines, but hadn't connected so many drowning deaths. Interesting. What did Sawyer mean by telling Jack "just get him into the water..." (about Smocke)

Jacob got stabbed... then kicked into a fire. I would assume that if the Boss Man can get whacked that way, then the same applies to the Candidates. Also wasn't Boone one of the names on the wall? He didn't drown, he got mangled. Badly.

True.... so maybe this is a flaw that smokie has, especially being stuck in locke's body. maybe this is why he didn't get in the sub. I theorize that maybe the plane (if he successfully takes off in it) will crash in the water and smokie drowns. I know it's a stretch, but idk. I'm usually WAY OFF on this stuff when it comes to Lost!

Well we are on an island i guess it would look daft if no one got drowned but i've maintained Smokey has a thing about water, the one thing that put me on pause was him standing in the sea having a paddle when he first entered Lockes body, but up to then I was thinking why Ben had to have a well of water to unplug to talk to him unless it was plugged to prevent the smoke going up, actually it could be a smoke thing. When you think about it water puts out a fire and gets smoke maybe if he is drowned he can't turn into smoke to save himself, it would be interesting to know if he could be drowned!
