The brother is truly dead. In the epi were Ben, Flocke and Jacob are in the foot, Ben asks Flocke if he knew Jacob ( something to that sorts ). Flocke replied, " in a matter of speaking". This leads me to believe that all the years prior it was just smokey posing as his brother.
I took it to mean that it wasn't Locke who knew Jacob, but MiB couldn't risk revealing his true identity to Ben until after he stabbed him.
As for saying stuff like "Don't tell me what I can't do", I don't see it as proof of any sort of some crazy disorder smokie could have. Over the course of the series, Jack and Ben have at least said this once. They aren't Locke any more than smokie is.
It is obvious from last night's epi that the blonde kid is Jacob,the other one didn't look like MiB but may have been.
Desmond also saw one of the kids and Smocke said to ignore him.
In my very humble opinion, the "jungle kid" is not Jacob at all. 10 days from now, we know for sure...

Exactly correct. Jacob recognized him immediately. Jacob set the rules with his brother, MIB/Smokey said he would find a loophole in them, Jacob admitted he found it. End of story.

I think MiB or Jacob's twin brother actually died when the smoke monster escaped from the light.
Smokie took on his form and killed him cos we saw MiB's body lying dead. Jacob cried over it before taking it to the cave and then he said,'goodbye brother'.
Jacob knows his brother is dead and the smoke monster was just pretending to be him.
His body was killed by the EM, but MIB still lives.

I personally don't think Jacob actually killed MIB, he knocked him out but would have been fine had he not floated into the light. What happened after was that a.) the fall killed him, just as our losties cannot kill each other intentionally but can still make mistakes which lead to their deaths, the same goes for the brothers; or b.) MIB didn't die, but his body form was no longer required because he gained the powers of the light... thoughts??

I agree with you Jacob did not actually kill his brother.What will be interesting is how Jacob knows not to let smokey leave and what will ultimately happen if he does.I always thought to smokey home was to his body,or death.Crazy momma was sent home by death,I would think that would be the same for MIB.It is almost like invasion of the body snatchers smokey style.I am not sure if smokey is MIB soul only cause we see how the smoke can read a soul.It could just be that when the smoke takes on an identity he also takes on the characteristics of that dead person.Example MIB crazy momma and the passion to go home.Just dont get him wet he might multiply or feed him after 12p.Kidding aside I think the ability for the smoke to read someones soul is a big clue to the smoke mystery.

Probably correct. He likely was unconscious but alive when he went down the tubes, but the EM "sucked his soul out" for lack of a better term, and the smoke is his new body.
