MIB see's his Claudia, Jacob doesn't??

Why one brother and not the other? When MIB asks Claudia "why can't Jacob see you?" Claudia replies "Because i'm dead."

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Is it simply because MIB is quote: "Special" ?

Because Claudia's ghost was actually Evil Momma/First Smokey. Her plan was to hook MIB back up with his people, years later, eventually leading to his stabbing her and "releasing her" from the smoke monster sentence she had endured for years. This is why she said "thank you" before her really bad acting/death.

Smokey took the form of dead Claudia.... O.K. But still if that were so, Why didn't Jacob also see Smokey as Claudia?

Its becuase Jacob is an empiricist....He can only see the "physical"...things you can touch. On the other hand, MiB is a rationalist. He can think and rationalize things that you can't touch....like spirit and ghosts and the dead.

In that regard in comparison to Jacob, he's special.

So that would mean that Claudia was a ghost and not the smoke monster appearing as Her.

Everyone on the island see's the smoke monster in whatever form he might take, right?
