I believe Dharma was working with MIB, just as the Others were following Jacob.
Consider this. MIB wants to leave the island, joins a group of scientists looking to harness the energy from the island. He is close to completing his goal before Mother stops him and kills all the people he was working with.
Flash forward to Dharma where a new group of scientists looking to harness the energy from the island. They run some tests, but it would seem that before their objectives were completed, they were purged by the Others (who followed orders from Jacob). Dharma also built their barracks on top of the tunnels. Horace built "Jacob's" cabin according to Locke's dream, but it turns out the cabin was seemingly inhabited by Smokey.
I also believe this would be a good way to tie in the Others/Dharma to the current story, where they seem to be lacking.
Interesting thought, Ort. My biggest issue with that idea is that I'm not sure that MIB brings people to the island. Are you thinking that Jacob initially brought them there but MIB "corrupted" them at some point?

Yes, I believe you are right. MiB is the technologist.

Totally agree. I alluded to this in a different thread earlier. Makes sense to me.

Something like that. When MiB joined that first group, he integrated himself as one of them. He didn't act as a leader or figurehead, and they did not make a choice to join his cause.
I believe the same happened with Dharma. They didn't necessarily follow MiB intentionally, but they certainly would have been used by him to carry out his agenda.
I know. But I'm really hoping we get something more about Dharma and the Others, because right now their stories feel somewhat worthless in the grand scheme of things.
It could even be explained with a bit of dialogue if they wanted to. However, considering some of the bigger things they don't seem too worried about I wouldn't hold my breath.

That is for sure. We need some closure and understanding about the DI.
I would flip if they show MIB in one of those old DI team photos.
