I thought is was some scientists equation associated with the decline of man and that the Dharma tests were designed to somehow augment these numbers and change man's fate. Or they are just Hurley's winning numbers!

I mean exactly this: the lucky lottery numbers, the computer numbers are they related to the number of successful clonings of various animals found on the island: 15 rabbits, etc.. We can't clone humans now, but we've cloned sheep and cows. Are the others living in their other-utopia because it's an experimental clone village?. Is that why it's all such a secret and can't be found out? Imagine the technology that can recreate humans and use them to fight wars, work in industry, be available for donating for organ transplants, space travel etc. Is Ben protecting the clones by keeping them on the island and away from those who might use them for evil purposes? Did they make a list of the "good ones" because the list has to do with "good people" who there would be no threat from? Just some ideas that may be crazy, but who knows?

LG, Thanks for that. I hadn't seen the Valenzetti equation thing so I guess I'm lost in space. I thought it was interesting and I'll have to look into what that means. When you come up with a theory , it's hard to give it up! There are other doomsday theories that predict the world will end in 2012.

Another thought: the numbers being the Valenzetti equation doesn't prohibit them from having a double meaning, does it? There is the theme of doubles on the island.Why not a double meaning for the numbers? So little that we know is "fixed" so what do you all think about that?
