So I get that the alt reality we saw all season was just a limbo type thing for everyone on the island (well the people that were close) and that obviously Hurley and Ben lived long after Jack died the quote “You made a great No2” and I’m also guessing Saywer, Kate Richard etc…. must have lived to.
But what I don’t get is who Jack son in the alt reality is? Surely you can’t have a kid in limbo that shouldn’t have existed (Claire and Sun kids both existed so I can understand there’s)
And last I’m gutted we didn’t find out what the light, island and smoke was
The light was energy that served as the source of electromagnetic and exotic matter that Dharma and those before them were interested in. Of course, nobody has ever been around that kind of energy, so who knows whether or not you'd become a black cloud of smoke after touching it?
I guess the island can be left open to interpretation, but if the FS is actually a gateway to some place like heaven, then Jacob's metaphor for it being the cork that keeps hell in might be true.
As for David, perhaps he's part of Jack's test to let go and move on.

THIS IS WHAT GIVES US THE CLUE: It was the enlightened John Locke in the FlashSideWays, after his spinal operation, that told Jack, "You don't have a son". I'm thinking that David may have been a figment of Jack's imagination in the FlashSideWays, which we now know is a kind of after death limbo existence, where we continue to live out our lives, not realizing that we are dead. In this limbo existence, Jack had a son, possibly because Jack wanted to "get it right" in a Father/Son Relationship, which was something that was missing between Jack and his own father(Christian). Apparently, in this limbo world, you carry on as if you are still alive ... having a job, raising a family, etc., and every so often you interact with other dead people who had a significant connection to you in your pre-death existence. I am also guessing that that is the reason we saw Dogan(the temple master) in the FlashSideWays earlier this season. If you remember, Dogan sacrificed his relationship with his son, in order to serve the island. After Dogan died, he met Jack at their sons' concert, where Dogan was trying to "get it right" as a father to his son. The birth of Aaron in last night's episode in the death limbo existence is a little odd, because we have to assume that Claire made it back to LA to raise Aaron in her pre-death existence. Perhaps the missing element in that relationship was Charlie, which now, apparently will be worked out in their after death existence. CAVEAT: I don't personally believe this kind of theology, I'm just summing up the storyline.

This makes more sense than my theory. My theory was that everybody died in the plane crash, and the island was a "purgatory", or "redemption" place, before they passed on to heaven. There are too many holes in my theory though, in regards to Dharma, Richard and Ben's people.

This was pretty much my first theory, last night. When I woke up today, I re-thought my theory and "changed my answer". My instinct was more accurate.
Christian explains this pretty clearly.
"This is the world you (everyone) created to find each other" Jack wanted to be a father, so did Ben. Hurley wanted to be lucky. Desmond wanted to be loved and respected by Widmore. Locke wanted to be with Helen, Sawyer wanted to be more than what his childhood had made him. The list goes on and on. But I think I made my point.

But what would have happened if someone wanted something that is the opposite of someone else's idea. So Jack was with Juliette because he wanted it? Or was that just a by-product of him wanting a son? Pretty big coincidence there. I reckon Sawyer would have liked to be with Juliette, why wasn't he?
Why was it only this specific group of people that was in the church, why not other people that had been to the island? Or even off the island, because for example Penny never went to the island either.
When Desmond went into the light, they had to lower him down with a rope. How did an unconcious José survive that? How did Jack get back out of the cave where he surely should have died from that super strong electromagnetic energy or something?
Holes after holes and nothing to stitch them in sight.
Did the Black Smoke "die", or did it just lose Locke's body for use. If the Black Smoke died, then what was Hurley's function on the island? What did he have to protect?
To what home would MiB have returned to anyway, 2000 years or something later? It appears that he turned into a normal human after the light was turned off, so what harm would he do in the real world? His original plan didn't involve Desmond and destroying the island, what was MiB suddenly so keen on destroying it now? We were led to believe he was just a poor boy who wants to go home and now he is pure evil again?
Jack had a brief hot affair Juliette. In FS their brief hot affair gave him the one thing he wanted. Jack always wanted to be better than his father, a better doctor, a better father and a better person. Sawyer wasn't with Juliette for a simple reason. He wasn't ready yet. As you saw the second those two were together, they remembered all. No holes there, so let's move on.
Again, explained pretty simply (don't know why anyone is having such an issue with simple answers) "This is the world you all created to find one another" and "These people were the biggest and best part of your life" The Losties, meant a lot to one another. Friendship can be as big of a bond as romantic love can.
So no holes here, let's again move on. (haha get it, FS is about moving on )
Desmond is immune to electromagnetic fields. As for Jack, my guess is water. The water was beginning to rise in the cave. It rose jack up and washed him out before the electromagnetic field got strong enough to kill him.
IMHO many are creating holes or screaming it's stupid because they wanted more answers.
A. I don't think the writers of lost have all the answers to life.
B. What's wrong with good story telling. Throwing you from left to right to keep you guessing.
C. I doubt most of the people who were ever part of the island truly had all the answers.
D. Why can't love, friendship and bonds be just as important as knowledge?
Not the many uses of the letter I or the word I, however you want to pick that apart. What I have done here is use my female spidey emotions to see beyond the knowledge. I have also used my logic spidey senses to find the simplest answer to all questions.
