Default MY unanswered question...

Why was Walt special?

Ok, wait, I worded that wrong. Why does it seem a lot of people ask why Walt was special if that was never true? I don't get where people get this idea from. So Walt is able to throw a knife like Locke, big whoop. Why would smokie appearing as Walt to Shannon and Locke indicate that Walt himself was special?

Walt wasn't dead, so have no reason to think it was Smokie appearing as him.

And why do we think he was special? Because we were both specifically told, and shown, that he was.

He doesn't have to be dead for MiB to take his form.

Ok, then, why not show me this scene you're talking about, where Walt was apparently made out to be more special than anyone else on the island.

The dvd set has special extra vid from the episode with Walt in room 23. he has very strong and powerful psychic abilities. i think he can astral project himself as well in his kinetic abilities...think Carrie...without the fires. that is kinda Walt. His abilites were so strong that Ben just wanted to get rid of him and that was why he gave him back to Michael in exchange for what Michael did. Bea Klugh was completely freaked out by Walt also and is the one that told Ben they had to get rid of him because no one would go in that room with him there. So, your question was actually answered a few seasons ago.

Plus he had powers of summons. Like with the bird and the polar bear. However the polar bear could have been coincidental. The questions Bea Klugh asked Michael about Walt alludes that the Others found him special.

Well thanks, then, Notso. But I find it hard to believe Walt would deliberatly get Shannon and Locke killed for MiB's sake, and when visited by Locke later on not to say anything about it. And it gets annoying when others complain about it being an unanswered question when really it wasn't.

Bea Klugh to Michael: Did Walt ever appear in a place he wasn't supposed to be?

Ben: I'm not happy about the arrangement that was made with you Michael, but we got more than we bargained for when Walt joined us, so I suppose this is what's best.

Missing Pieces - Episode 4
JULIET: Beatrice told me you saw your son. I spent some time with him; with Walt. He's a very interesting kid; he's uh... he's very smart. He's very special.
MICHAEL: What do you mean 'special'?
JULIET: Well, he's not an ordinary boy, which is why I'm worried about him. So I'm very glad that you agreed to do this for us; I'm glad that you're going to get him away from here.

Then there is the whole Walt making birds smash into doors thing.

How did Walt get Lock killed? And Shannon being shot was because Anna Lucia was a nervous wreck. Yes, Walt appeared, but that is only an indirect cause at Shannon's death at best.

And how is it not an unanswered question? The show almost went out of it's way to tell us there was more to Walt then met the eye, and much of the story surrounded him. First, Tom and the other take him off the raft, then for much of season 2 Michael is trying to get him back, which causes him to betray the losties.

In other words, Walt was a MAJOR player in the show the first two seasons, and then he just sailed away with Michael with no real resolution.

You think we are making this up?

Walt appeared to Shannon multiple times after having left on the raft and being kidnapped by the others. Eventually this led to AnaLucia mistaking her for an Other and killing her. After that, AnaLucia feared Sayid would want revenge, so she contemplated what to do with him. Killing him, with Sayid being a candidate, would serve MiB's plans.

As for Locke, Walt visited him when he was left for dead by Ben in Dharma's mass grave. If not for this meeting, Locke might not have ended up dead like MiB wanted him to.
