So in S1 Jack chases the vision of his Father only to end up hanging off hte side of a cliff. He is saved by Locke. Could this have been an early message from the island for Jack to trust Locke or something?
He didn't seem to learn anything after repeatedly insisting that pusing the button was pointless.
