Default There are no survivors of Oceanic 815.....clue?

This might have been discussed before, so forgive me if it has.

Re-watching season one, Deus Ex Machina. Boone finds Yemi's plane. He gets on the radio transmitter and there's a voice on the other end. Boone says he's a survivor of Oceanic 815. The response from the other end is there are no survivors from Oceanic 815. I had to listen to it twice because at that instant is when the plane falls from the cliff.

Do you think this was from the 'others', or do you think this actually got through to the 'outside'? I know we were all shocked to hell when Naomi landed and told everyone that there were no survivors and that the plane was found. I know that they've been on the Island for about a month at this point, but it wasn't 'big news' until season 4, which is 3-ish months later.

Thoughts? Did they give us a huge clue from the very beginning? It seems as though the writers really aren't pulling the story out of their asses. :P

Anyways, discuss. And if you want to hear it for yourself, it's around the 34:00 mark in the episode.

Everyone outside the island believes there were no survivors because someone faked a plane crash in the bottom of the sea complete with the required number of corpses, although there seems to be some confusion over whether Ben or Widmore is responsible for it.

Yes. We all know that. But ONE month after the crash? I don't think it was THAT soon. Actually, it would have had to have been before that for ANYONE who picks up the other end of the transmission to know right off the top of their head that there were no survivors. (News still takes a teeny bit of time to travel the globe and become common knowledge to everyone). Also, remember this is season one I'm talking about, not season 4 where this is all common knowledge. None of us knew that back then....

Also, I think it would take just a bit of time to even fake the crash. Bodies dug. Fake plane purchased. Boat bought to drop it in the ocean. So I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say this has to have happened before the faked crash was found. Unless, the transmission went 'into the future' or something of that nature.

But if the message DID get to the 'outside' world, whoever intercepted that transmission would have known there were survivors. They would have passed that message on. So I guess it really depends on who got that message...

Sorry to pick apart this theory, but if you watch 'the other 48 days', you see that Boone is actually talking to Bernard...

Yep. It's actually Bernard talking to Boone. And, he says "No, WE are the survivors of Flight 815."

Sorry.
