What is up with room 23? We have not seen it since Karl was in it & Sawyer/Kate/Alex saved him.
Does anyone have a way to get the screen caps from the "brain washing" video of which Karl was watching? When he awoke, he was saying, "Danny". Hmmm, is Alex really Danielle? Did Ben keep the "old" Danielle in captivity away from her "other" self?
Are the "others" just version of other people? We've said cloning before but I'm wondering again?

When Karl was in the boat he says "Danny" to Sawyer. Sawyer replies "no, Sawyer" then Karl motions with his head and repeats "Danny". Danny is the gun toting other that Juliet shoots right before she lets them go back to their island.
I personally don't think the video is brain-washing. I think what it's doing is 're-conditioning' the 'lesser' others. In a sense, it's opening their minds as to the potential of the islands power, and breaking them free of societal conditioning.
For example, the subliminal message that mentions ''only fools are bound by time and space'', seems to me to be trying to gear them towards and understanding of time travel.
When these subliminal messages take effect and open their minds, the others are able to manipulate the island's powers like a 'chi force' (like Ben, Richard, Mikhail, Ethan, Juliet, Harper etc).
Maybe it's only the close-minded/cynical others that room 23 is used on. Maybe the one's who are inherently spiritual/in tune don't even need to subject themselves to the reconditiong.
Just my theory anyway. I think 'cult' style brainwashing isn't their style.
The meaning of the clips which were shown to us in the episode of the brainwashing video tells me that inventions of our recent times have caused problems in our lives. It looks like inventions and technology seems to be the main idea.
I saw a bird's nest with cigarettes in it, that weird symbol which has also been seen on the Oceanic plane, steel industry, Earth, relgion/karma, inventions of cars or speedometers, females image/culture, currency/coins, drafting compass, heating, evolution of from a piano to an electronic one, kaleidoscope, insects/fish (pollution?), motor/engine mechanics, and prob some more.....
