so why did the video mention nothing of what you were really suppose to do then?

What if you turn the wheel in one direction it goes forward in time, and if you turn it the other direction it goes back in time?

I'm still not convinced blowing out the back wall of the time teleporter (or whatever you call it) detroys it. It appears to be the only way to get to the wheel, and we know the island has been moved before, so we can assume it has been blown out before.

I do agree that Ben would save his daughter if he could. He proved to us that he really did love his daughter, even if he was a disfunctional father.

and like i mentioned earlier, if the island is now in the past, this could explain how richard was able to meet with a young john and why he would ask what things 'belong' to him

Because Dharma wasn't interested in moving the island. Like Ben said, they were trying to harness the power of the island to do "silly science experiments." This is why the video warned against putting metal into that chamber, because it would significantly compromise their scientific experiments.

there are far too many varriable to going back in time; now yes if you can go forward then why not back but why not backwards doesn't mean you can in reality just theory; going back opens too many possibilities to change the present. as well as you would need a different calculation evin if it is slightly different or mor complicated it would be a different formula. (and example on formula variation could be the difference between fussion and fisson. we can accomplish fussion but are still stumped on fission) with that said odds are they do not have the correct formula/calabration/calculation to go backwards.

grrr i have to stop foruming at work my phone rings and it takes forever to get back to and remember my though

If time can go forwards and backwards can it also go sideways? This is a crazy thought, but what would happen if time went sideways, like suspended animation or something? Is that even possible? Is our concept of time way too limited?

well, energy and and electricity flows from left to right, so maybe time does as well...time does move forward, as we say, not upward...or downward

Time can only move in two directions, forward and backward, left and right, up and down, however you want to define it. But it can only move in those two defined directions. Irregardless of alternative universes and suspended animation, time will continue to pass. 5 minutes is 5 minutes any way you look at it. You can travel back and forth in time as much as you want in 5 minutes, but 5 minutes will still have gone by relative to you.

I'm no scientists or anything, but that's how I would perceive it to work.

what if i step backwards 10 minutes? am i now in 2 places or do i now have to catch up with the future, or will i always be 10 minutes behind unless i time travel again?

as i said further up in the post the wether they can go in both direction of time doesn't matter much if you don't have both formulas to accomplish it. if you don't have it to go back in time whatever paradox may happen doesn't matter.
