So... Christian Shepard is alive or Jack's delusional?
I don't get how Jack's dad can be alive, if his body was being shipped home from Australia.. I thought Jack made up the thing about his dad being on vacation(or whatever) when he was trying to get a prescription at the drugstore, but when he talks to the Chief Surgeon at the hospital, he makes it sound like his father actually is alive, though he doesn't get any acknowledgment either way from the surgeon(the actor is James Lesure, but I don't remember the character's name, sorry).
There is a healing power on the island. Locke fully recovered from a gunshot wound to the stomach. That Mikael guy came back to life after being shot. So, who is to say that Jack's father could not have been brought back to life when he's dead body landed on the island. Coffin was empty when Jack found it and Jack saw him when he thought he was going crazy. That guy is definitely coming back.
Yeah, the island does have some serious healing abilities, but bringing back the dead seems a stretch(excluding Mikhail, I'm chalking that up to nearly-dead or almost-dead. Then again, if we seem him again this season, after he detonated a grenade in his hand underwater.. I may change my mind). Especially since he would almost(but not definately) have been embalmed before they shipped his body off.. It just seems.. too strange.
There is nothing too strange for this show....Look at Jack's beard.
Lol, nice. So, slightly offtopic(hey, my thread, I'll allow it), buuuut.. Wasn't it weird to see Kate with makeup on? The first time I watched the episode, it took me quite a while for it to sink in.
And I hate to admit it, but the first time I saw it, I noticed the Razr(or whatever) cellphone, but didn't piece it together that that was part of the foreshadowing, and it took me watching the ep. tonight, the third time, to realize that his dad was supposed to be dead, from the viewers perspective. I guess I was either really into the story, or really out of it the first two times..
Ok so if the island can heal people who die or even almost die, does it pick and choose which ones it heals?? Because if not, what about all the other people that have died and been put in graves already? Or what about the mass grave that Locke is in? I mean so MANY people have died and we haven't seen them again.. Who knows.

Maybe it's dependent on the person, they have to have some sort of quality(or genetic disposition or something) that allows them to interact with the island. Kinda plays into the "good" guys and "bad" guys thing that Ben's so Gung Ho about.. Not really my belief, but it sounds plausible to me, as far as where the writers are concerned.
Mikhail swam backwards and away when he released the grenade for it to explode. I think jack's delusional. He's poppin Oxycontin like they were M&M's. Dude's not right in the head. Hence, the look of pity the doctor gave him when he was ranting in the hospital hallway.
As far as Patchy goes, even if he swam away from the grenade, he didn't swim that far. If he drops it and swims backward, it would have sunk below the window as he swam back. He still had it in his hand when it went off. Besides, the shock wave would have really messed him up!
Kate did look great with make-up. I didn't payany attention to it untill I read it here but you are right, I though something looked out of place on her when I watched the episode last night.
One thing I thought was kind of funny. On the island, Jack's stuble has a lot of grey in it but his long beard in the future was mostly black/dark brown.
Jack tells the Doc, Call my dad down here and if I am drunker he is, you can fire me, this is in the future, so either he is delusional or.... HE'S ALIVE, I hope for the latter.
