Default Musicians

What's the deal with musicians coming to the Island and getting killed?

Charlie of course is the 1st to come to mind. The Looking Glass signal jammer was programmed by a musician to the tune of the Beach Boys' Good Vibrations. Now we see the violin carrying French scientist. He didn't make it very long. So is this a clue?

Those air-guitar players should be carefull too!!

Its an interesting catch. I didn't pay any attention to it but you are right. But, if not, then why show the french guy with a violin? Unless of course, he just likes to play!

Maybe the voilinist is the one that programmed the jamming signal in the Looking Glass. It seems that they were working for the Others before Rousseau killed them. Also, I think Rousseau's hideout is located parallel to the Looking Glass. Doesn't the rope that leads to the Looking Glass also lead to her bunker on the opposite side?

A violinst probably wouldn't choose "Good Vibrations" also a French Guy probably wouldn't choose an American pop song.

Also keep in mind, at various times we have also seen Ben and Jack both play the piano with some bit of skill..

excellent observation nate,
to echo your sentiments to hunter, I don't see a person capable of playing classical piano choosing good vibrations either.

I've always pictured a DI hippy type of guy myself.

maybe Ben was a hippy before he went nuts and killed everyone Actually, it was almost certainly programmed by someone in the Dharma Initiative. In the episode "Enter 77" Mikhail confirms that the underwater station was part of the Dharma Initiative, and we know from the Geronimo Jackson album that they were a bunch of hippies in the DI fur sure.
