Default About Charlie`s Death.

Ok. Since we have gotten threw season 4. I got to thinking. Maybe Charlie wasn`t supose to live and turn off the jamming equipment. A thought pop into my head and said if it wasn`t for Charlie turning off the Jamming equipment. The thefreighter would have never made it to the island and the island never would have been in danger and Ben/Locke would have never had to move the island. So perhaps Des`s visions where brought onby A force able to change time like say Mrs Hawkins and saw to it that Des would change time for it's own cause.
Maybe Charlie was supose to die before the looking glass senario.

I had this thought yesterday. With all the talk of "rules" and Desmond being "special" - what if this is the extent of how special Desmond is? For instance, nothing he could have done would have saved Charlie as Charlie was ultimately going to die. However, Desmond was able to alter the way in which Charlie did die, and as we saw it somewhat benefited Desmond.

Had it been anyone else, Charlie would have died the first time (drowning trying to save Claire). But because Desmond is "special" he was able to stop that first incident from happening.

If you remember the episode where Daniel knocks on Desmonds hatch door, Daniel told Desmond that he was a "miracle". I'm not sure why, unless it has to do with his turning the failsafe key, which did....what? Changed the future? But apparently the "rules" don't apply to Desmond somehow, so I think he will be a key player in all this. (I also think he'll be stuck going back to the island whether he wants to or not).

Thats a very good point. Could visitations like this explain some visions we are clueless about? Older Walt talking to John???

I've just finished watching the episode where Charlie breaks the code for the jamming device. Bonnie said before she died that the code for the jamming device was "Good Vibrations"...remember? She then said that "it was programmed by a musician". Interesting eh? Charlie is a musician. Could he be the one who does the programme? I'm not entirely sure how it could be, but with this whole time travel stuff you never know.

Interesting! Based on your original question, I think that someone else would have swam down to turn off the jamming equipment if Charlie had died (probably Des) but you never know how seemingly tiny alterations could effect the outcome!

So it would seem Destney wanted Charlie to be the one to stop thhe jamming equipment. It practly had his name all over that sitution. The code was writen by A musician. The song the code was based on Chrlie happend to know. So it seems Destney wanted Des to save Charlie all thoese times. Not because Des was altering time. But rather Time always wanted Des to save Charlie that would lead up to Charlie`s ultimate sacerfice. Im starting to see the String time theory that Orth has been talking about. Good point by the way Orth. It just takes A while to see the string theory. Some times you have to go back and re-watch past seasons and episodes to connect one event to another. But they all seem to fit into your string theory. Des can change time. Not to alter it, but rather time always wanted him to do so. So do yoy think the time string is stright alwsys or do you think there might be A loop it must take to continue to stay stright. Hmm that would make it the "bow" theory then ;-)

This was actually a great thought and I was totally on board with it. But then I remembered that Charlie died, so even if the island moves back in time, he's still going to be dead.

However, maybe it was Desmond who programmed the jamming device. Maybe he uses the song Good Vibrations because that's the song Charlie had to play.
